A practical expression of God’s love in action.
We believe everyone deserves dignity, love, and opportunity.
Serving our local
community
Local Teams you can join
We serve our local community in all kinds of practical ways.
Through our Prison Support Team, we visit and feed the inmates at the Ron Barwick Prison, while offering connection and hope to those who are often forgotten.
With our Cooking Crew, we prepare frozen meals that are ready to give, in order to help in a tangible way.
Through Hobart City Mission’s programs; Night Space & Small Steps, we connect, cook a meal, and chat with those experiencing homelessness and hardship, offering encouragement and support.
Each of these teams is about more than meeting a need; it’s about building relationships and showing people they matter. See details for our teams below.

Impacting people
globally
Our Global Giving
Globally, through partners like Kamara’s Heart in Sierra Leone and Compassion, we’re reaching and giving beyond our city to impact lives around the world. They support some of the most vulnerable communities, children, and families with hope and practical care.
And through Operation Christmas Child, we send shoe boxes full of toys and practical gifts overseas to children who would otherwise receive nothing at Christmas.

Welcoming refugees & migrants to Hobart
Refugee Support
We’re passionate about welcoming refugees and migrants into Hobart; helping people feel seen, supported, and connected as they start a new chapter of life.
Through Hobart’s Migrant Resource Centre, we have an MRC Team of people who visit their accomodation site once a month, helping to beautify their living spaces and, more importantly, build genuine relationships.
Out of our involvement with MRC we have also identified that we want to “foster” a refugee family as they move into their own homes. This is an emerging idea and we are looking for people who would like to do that.
Also we have recently discovered a need for a Transport Team of people who are willing to pick up people and bring them to church on a semi regular basis.

Our annual But To Serve day sees hundreds of volunteers giving up their time to help our partner organisations who are making an impact both locally and globally.
Check out our recap video from 2025:
"Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served,
but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many." Matthew 20:28
