Safe Church

Statement of Commitment

C3 Beyond is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all people.  Our approach to preventing harm is embedded in our Safe Church Policy and procedures, and we are committed to a culture of child safety.  We have a zero tolerance approach to child abuse and are committed to providing a safe environment for children and young people in all our programs and activities.

We value and uphold the rights of children and young people to feel safe and be safe.  Their best interests, opinions and concerns are listened to, as their protection from harm is paramount.  We seek to incorporate their views, as well as their families’ and the community, in order to develop a safe place for them.

We are committed to promoting cultural safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, cultural safety for children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and to providing a safe environment for children with a disability.  We value diversity and do not tolerate any discriminatory practices.

We invest in our staff and volunteers to ensure they are adequately trained and supported to have the skills, knowledge and confidence to be child safe.  Our code of conduct ensures there is awareness and guidance on appropriate and inappropriate behaviour towards children and young people.  We have appropriate measures in place to minimise the risk to the wellbeing of children and young people in our recruitment of staff and volunteers.  We have procedures in place to report suspected abuse, neglect or mistreatment of children promptly and lawfully to the appropriate authorities, and if there is an observed breach of our Code of Conduct.

We are committed to maintaining and improving our policies, procedures and practices through regular review to keep children and young people safe from harm.

C3 Beyond Safe Church Team

Role of Safe Church Team

Our Safe Church Team plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and caring environment for everyone in our church, especially children. They help put our child protection policies into practice and liaise with the independent Safe Church Hotline in response to concerns or reports of harm, ensuring local care and confidentiality. The team reports to the Church Board to ensure transparency and accountability and keeps secure records.

The Safe Church Hotline is a free, independent, professional resource for anyone to gain advice and report concerns. They will liaise with our Safe Church Team where appropriate.

If you have a concern, please contact the Safe Church Helpline below. You can also phone the Strong Families Safe Kids Tas hotline.
